Things to consider

What else do you need to consider when buying a travel system?

So now you know all the different types of travel systems but how do you pick which one is right for you? Before you make the final decision, it's also important to consider some other points to make sure you find the perfect travel system for your family.

Lifestyle Your lifestyle is arguably one of the most important things to consider. You need a travel system that fits in your life effortlessly and makes moving around easier, not harder. Think how you plan to use your pushchair and where you live. For example, do you own a car which you use often to get around? Do you live an active life where efficiency is key?

Budget Having a budget in mind before beginning your shopping can help keep you focused. Make sure you spend an amount that you are comfortable with, but know that sometimes spending that little bit more can get you some handy added extras especially when purchasing travel system bundles, to set you up with everything you need for years to come.

Practicality Your travel system is most likely to go everywhere with you and be a big part of your daily routine, which means it has be easy to use and practical. Consider it's folded size and will the chassis fit in your car boot? Do you have somewhere to store at home? Can the footprint get through your doorway? Weight is also an important thing to consider when you need to push the weight of baby, extra seat units or car seats. For these reasons, it's always best to test drive before buying to make sure it works for you.

The Future Having another baby might be the last thing on your mind at the moment, but it is always good to prepare if there is a possibility you and your partner might want another baby. Opting for a travel system that is adaptable, versatile and could change into a double later on would be a worthwhile investment.

Useful features to look out for...

Some travel systems include some really useful added features that can really improve the functionality and convenience of you pushchair. Some of the most popular added features that we love are;

Reversible seats

Travel systems house a variety of configurations on the chassis. Reversible seats let you face baby, or while in double mode, let toddler sit in world facing mode at the same time. Chassis

Travel systems can sometimes be a little heavy with added units. Therefore frames that are made from aluminium will be lighter to manage, although they do tend to be more expensive. Basket

A roomy basket goes hand in hand with the all inclusive practicality offered by travel systems. However, for a more lightweight travel system option, a smaller basket may help with transporting both baby and load. Adapters

For most travel systems, to add different seat units or car seats you'll need a set of adapters to help distribute the weight and placement on the chassis.

Suspension

Many travel systems now come equipped with suspension to give little ones a less bumpy ride, while accommodating the extra weight of added car seat units or seats.

Wheels

Travel systems can be designed for all terrains or specific environments. Bigger wheels allow for better movement over rougher terrain, but smaller wheels are perfect for urban living.

Fold footprint

As travel systems are designed to add a car seat to the frame, you'll need to make sure that the chassis is able to fold into your car boot to be able to utilise this feature.

Car seat base While a car seat is a pivotal element of a travel system, often they require ISOFIX base to install into your car. Look out for bundles that include both car seat and base to help save some pennies!

Accessories

The cost of essential extras such as rain covers, car seat adapters and footmuffs can really add up if they are not included in the overall cost of your travel system. Make sure you take this into consideration when weighing up your options. Here are some of the accessories we think you should consider.
